Rebuilds & Renovations

Restoring a 2CV can be a complex process. Initially the car must be assessed for rust, mechanical and trim condition to establish the required work and the viability.

Every single mechanical piece, engine, gearbox, steering and brakes are stripped, cleaned, checked and over-hauled before being built back up. Trim is replaced as needed and the seats rebuilt, new wheels and tyres are fitted.

Here is a comprehensive list of the work carried out:-

The body shell is stripped completely, all rust and corrosion is cut out treated then all new panels fitted (not patches). It is then seam sealed stone chip protected and etch primed. We refurbish the doors bonnet boot and A panels, then along with 4 new wings and new vent flap, all these are now sent out to be professionaly 2 pack primed and painted in a spray oven. This give’s us the best quality & finish available. When the car is built it is fully waxoyled with our German wax injection system.

While this is away we will start to build the new Galvanised rolling chassis with a reconditioned Engine and Gearbox, all the axles suspension and steering are stripped, cleaned and rebuilt with new parts wherever necessary, then painted in black.

With the body work back from the paint shop, the build starts with the shell being bolted to the chassis, then we start to assemble all the pieces replacing damaged or worn parts as we go along, we can safely say that no other company in the UK, use as many new parts in a 2cv rebuild as 2cv City, being the largest supplier of new and used parts in the UK, everything is in stock so we never have to compromise.

All this goes towards building a car as near to new as is possible

Finally our range of accessories can be fitted to the customers specifications, from leather seats and cd players to alloy wheels and exterior trim, to finish off the process and make the car look as good as new (often better!).
